Description

Drawing by Jean-Claude Rochette

Since 1893, the competition for Chief Architect of Historical Monuments has selected architects destined to work on the main monuments of our history. The competition is made up of several tests, the last of which consists of writing a monographic thesis devoted to a monument. This is studied in all its aspects by carrying out historical, architectural and heritage studies. In 1963, Jean Claude Rochette carried out a complete study of the chapel of the former abbey of Val-de-Grace in Paris. Recognized as one of the greatest draughtsmen of his generation, he put all his skill into producing a statement that exposes all the magnificence of the chapel by paying homage to the draughtsmen of the 17th century.
