Description

Handdrawing (re-edition) by Erik Gunnar Asplund

Designed and built between 1918 and 1927, the Stockholm public library is one of the most important buildings of Asplund’s career.
Books can be consulted in the round reading room at the centre of the building. This work shows the room as it is experienced upon entering form the staircase. The books lining the shelves add a texture to the curved walls to become an architectural element in their own right.
This archive document (1921) was digitized by the archives of the Stockholm Museum of Architecture and is reproduced by Desplans as a certified and limited edition.
