Description

A2 — Unframed

The State entrusted the restoration of the Hôtel des Invalides to Jean-Claude Rochette in 1982.

Touched by the state of the Saint-Louis church, he plans to restore the famous dome but it was not until 1986, during a site visit, that he succeeded in convincing the minister for Culture to undertake a global restoration project for the dome, by presenting him with this painting which gave it back all its brilliance thanks to its gold leaf highlights.
