Description
The early childhood center is the “first stone” of an educational and sports center in Arras. In a logic of pooling and educational continuity, the project defines at the scale of the island a strategy of articulation of equipment according to a staging principle that follows the topography of the site towards the river.
The warm and domestic expressiveness of the wood is affirmed on the courtyards and in the interior spaces, while on the streets, a cladding of green bricks develops a singular architectural style addressed to the city. This “masonry lace” is superimposed on the wooden building, and composes an order of large vertical openings in dialogue with the industrial building that faces it.
