orto is a collective of young Architects initially founded by Maria Ave Romani and Paolo Catrambone. orto is an unserious metaphor related to the Italian meaning of this word. orto is conceived as a shared platform, a common ground of ideas, proposals and projects defining a personal path into the field of Architecture.
Maria Ave Romani is an Italian Architect from Reggio Emilia. She graduated in 2015 from the UAL University of Lisbon where she worked for Aires Mateus, Pedro Reis and Joao Nunes. In 2018 she moved to Switzerland where she worked at the Peter Zumthor Architekturburo before joining the Accademia of Architecture of Mendrisio to teach as an assistant.
Paolo Catrambone is an Italian Architect from Asti. He graduated in 2016 from the Accademia of Architecture of Mendrisio. He first worked in Lisbon for Goncalo Byrne and Joao Nunes before moving to Tokyo, Japan to collaborate with SANAA office in 2017. From 2018 he works as an Architect at Herzog deMeuron office in Basel, Switzerland.
