Auguste Perret
Architect, France
Auguste Perret is a french architect and entrepreneur who defined a specific aesthetic for reinforced concrete, being one of the first french architects to use it in construction. He also invented a classical architectural order, similar to the ancient orders, but integrally based on the technical performance of the new material. Through his carrer, he has designed rigorous buildings like l’Église du Raincy, or La salle Cortot, le Mobilier National and le Musée des Travaux Publics in Paris. But he also renewed urban thinking through large ensembles, such as La place de la gare in Amiens and rebuilt the entire city center of Le Havre.
