Description

Drawing by Jean-Benoît Vétillard x Dreier Frenzel

Around the Cabalet park stands a series of monuments and institutions from which the House of Heritage and Culture was inspired to build its new identity: the Castle, the Capuchin Convent, the Sainte-Croix Institute, La Condémine. Following the example of its neighbors, the House changes expression according to what surrounds it, all by bringing together multiple eras and architectures in the same setting. Its perimeter becomes a low and light enclosure which accommodates its new public and museal functions by revealing its underground hold. Now at the heart of its structure, the original uncluttered volume houses the library, surrounded by a walled garden and its peristyle.
