Description

Collage by Jérome Malpel

Made in New York (2012) is a collage that seeks to express the concentration of activity and knowledge along the piers of the city. The strategic site of the East River waterfront that was shaped over the years by industry and the flux of materials and technologies. A furniture manufacturer sets up shop on a railway spur and transforms lumber from the forests of Long Island into tables and chairs, which are then exported around the world.
Through this cut-away, the architect examines the building and reveals its mechanisms and inner workings.
