Savoye passée

Savoye passée, 2014

Collage by Jean Maleyrat

When Le Corbusier meets history, this collage presents the emblematic Savoye villa, which shows the architect’s modern architecture on a background composed of a Persian rug and a Roman arch. This collage is part of a research work on irony in architecture. By changing the environment or function of these architecture icons, these images take on a new dimension, become objects or icons out of time. This process of transformation calls two protagonists: the modern against the postmodern. By changing these myths, Jean Maleyrat questions their role in the history of architecture.
